Testal, as corporate members of the Institute of Acoustics, offer an extensive range of prediction, measurement and control services for the monitoring of personal, environmental and workplace noise, vibration, dust and gases. Testal can perform measurements for hand arm vibration, to ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
Any or all of these are typical environmental issues that are created on a site and have an impact on the local community.
Prediction Studies
Testal’s noise prediction service enables noise levels to be assessed at the project planning stage, allowing different noise control measures to be considered, while also evaluating their effectiveness.
Noise Monitoring
Testal's noise monitoring service involves analysis of the sound pressure levels created by ongoing operations and can be related to the workplace, the environment or even just contour mapping of noise source units. The data is recorded, stored, downloaded and assimilated to provide the client with a comprehensive breakdown and analysis of the results in the from of a written report.
Environmental Monitoring
Testal offers effective and economic measurement programmes using state-of-the-art instrumentation and tailored surveys to suit individual specific requirements of any site or project.
Typical surveys include:
-
short term exploratory surveys
-
full time attendance surveys
-
remote monitoring stations
-
client operated monitoring
Health and Safety Assessments
Statutory regulations exist to minimise noise levels to protect personal hearing within the workplace. Testal provides surveys and advice to enable industry to meet these obligations.
Instrument Hire
A wide range of equipment is available for hire, from simple survey meters to complete site monitoring and reporting systems. Our hire service accommodates both long-term and short-term requirements.
Vibration Monitoring
Vibration monitoring is often required to determine the effect of construction activities on neighbouring structures or services.
Testal’s investment in state-of-the-art instrumentation enables vibration measurements to be made in terms of peak particle velocity, acceleration, displacement and frequency, all with respect to structural damage levels.
Monitoring of ground borne vibration is carried out using digital seismographs and if concern is related to structural issues the ppv (peak particle velocity) is measured and reported on. If however, the problem relates to peoples perception of, and reaction to, the vibration then vdv (vibration dose values) are recorded and reference is made to bs6472.
Testal offers full-time attended or remote monitoring by specialist engineers and can provide advice and equipment hire, which can include some initial training. We can also generate technical reports from data collected and supplied to us by clients.
Testal offers a range of dust and fume monitoring services that are needed for inspecting environmental and personal exposures in order to comply with mandatory COSHH regulations.
