Pennine continues expansion with new office in Northern Ireland

December 2008

Leading ground improvement specialist, Pennine – a subsidiary of Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering – is continuing its expansion with the opening of a regional office in Northern Ireland.  The new operation will be headed by Gavin Savage, who is originally from Northern Ireland and has 20 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering, who explains:

“We believe that the local market for ground improvement represents strong future potential, not least because the vibro-techniques we use are ideally suited to the abundance of soft alluvial soils here.  It is an exciting opportunity for Pennine”

The new office will offer the same technical ground improvement and estimating advice that has made Pennine an industry leader.  The expansion will create a dedicated base and enable Pennine to provide a local service for the region.

Pennine will also use the new location to offer industry training workshops on ground improvement techniques, following its recent independent accreditation from the Construction Industry CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Services.

Gavin Savage continues, “The seminars we are offering are designed to assist staff development and training by looking at various methods, construction techniques and design procedures.  Tailored for everyone from graduates to senior engineers, we envisage that these seminars will greatly benefit the construction industry in the region.”
